Online Motor Vehicle Registration
Online Re-Registrations can be completed by visiting the State of Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicle’s Rapid Renewal Website. Questions or concerns about online registration services may be directed to Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles at (207) 624-9000

Please note: New registrations must be completed in the Town Office.

Update: May 26, 2020
On May 26, 2020 the Governor signed Executive Order 53-A, which means if a person can register normally through their municipality or Bureau of Motor Vehicle Office they must do so immediately. If your municipality is NOT accepting payments through Rapid Renewal, by mail, by telephone, or in the municipal office the notice below of March 20, 2020 still stands.

What you need to bring with you for:

Vehicle Renewals:
*  A current State of Maine Insurance Card
*  The expiring registration
*  The current mileage

New Registration, Maine Dealer Sale:
*  The Title Application (blue)
*  Factory Window Sticker, if Brand New Vehicle
*  If you have plates we can complete your registration here.  If you need plates, pay excise tax at the Town Office, then complete your registration at the Bureau of Motor Vehicle

New Registration, Private/Casual Sale:
*  A Bill of Sale
*  Previous owners Title (if 1995 or newer), signed over to the new owner

Transfers, Maine Dealer Sale:
*  Registration of the vehicle you are transferring from.  You must no longer own that vehicle, it must be traded, sold or junked in order to transfer.
*  The Title Application (blue)
*  Factory Window Sticker, if brand new
*  Current mileage
*  Current State of Maine Insurance Card

Transfers, Private/Casual Sale:  
*  Registration of the vehicle you are transferring from.  You must no longer own that vehicle, it must be traded, sold or junked in order to transfer.
*  A Bill of Sale
*  Previous owners Title (if 1995 or newer) signed over to the new owner

New Maine Residents:
*  You will need your out of state registration
*  You will need your out of state Title or loan documents showing what financial institution holds the title

We cannot photocopy registrations.  Duplicate registrations are available for $6 if yours is lost.

Please let us know before starting your registration if you are required to
file an SR-22.
